지난 4일 미국 연방관보에 따르면 미국 식품의약품청(FDA)은 퍼플로오로알킬 에틸을 함유한 식품접촉성분 3종을 방수 및 방유제로서 수용성 및 유지 식품과 접촉하는 종이와 합판에 사용 금지토록 관련 식품첨가물 규정을 개정했다. 

이에 본 최종 고시는 4일자로 발효됐다.

대상 물질 3종은 ▲제1 및 제2인산 디에탄올아민염 (Diethanolamine salts of mono- and bis (1 H, 1 H, 2 H, 2 H perfluoroalkyl) phosphates) ▲펜타노익산 (Pentanoic acid, 4,4-bis [(gamma-omega-perfluoro-C8-20-alkyl)thio] derivatives, compounds with diethanolamine) ▲퍼플로오로알킬 (Perfluoroalkyl substituted phosphate ester acids, ammonium salts formed by the reaction of 2,2-bis[([gamma], [omega]-perfluoro C4-20 alkylthio) methyl]-1,3-propanediol, polyphosphoric acid and ammonium hydroxide) 등이다.

이들 화합물과 구조적으로 유사한 성분들의 독성을 다룬 새로운 데이터에서, 식품접촉에 사용했을 때 위해하지 않다는 합리적인 확실성이 없는 것으로 나타났다.
